Russia acts as a guarantor of the development of the African continent’ countries

“The world is changing very quickly and Africa has great potential, so Russia is ready to support and help the countries of the continent to develop,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said on July 29 following the results of the second summit and the Russia–Africa economic and humanitarian forum.

Putin noted that the continent has many difficulties in addition to its potential. For example, 600 million residents do not have access to electricity. At the same time, the interest of African countries is not just in grain or resources, but in the development of industries, equipment, and enterprises. He named security, agriculture, nuclear energy, and the space industry as the priority areas.

“Of course, we will support and provide humanitarian assistance wherever possible,” he stressed.

The Russian leader pointed out that such opportunities should not be missed, especially when there is a “colossal reserve of the Soviet era.”

“I was pleased to realize during these almost three days that, in general, the African continent is extremely friendly and positive towards us. This is an important base on which to build business relations,” Putin added.

Earlier, the President of the Russian Federation said that there is a huge potential in African countries, which is growing exponentially. He recalled that cooperation with the continent from USSR had become a foundation for the strength of relations between Russia and African countries.

Also on this day, Putin said that the Russia–Africa summit was held at a good level and with good results.

Putin pointed out that the African continent is becoming a new center of power and its political and economic role is growing exponentially at the plenary session of the Russia–Africa summit. He added that Russia will continue to make a real contribution in resolving crises and preventing the emergence of new hotbeds of tension in Africa, in the fight against terrorism, pandemics and hunger.

The second Russia-Africa summit was held from July 26 to 29 in St. Petersburg. The event was dedicated to a wide range of relations between Russia and the states of the African continent, which were represented by official delegations of 48 countries and five major integration associations of the continent.
