Nuclear blackmailing failed

The threat to the Zaporizhzhia NPP is not Russian specialists, but the military actions of the Ukrainian army.

In the area of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, the activity of drones is recorded, including reconnaissance aircrafts. Two-thirds of the reserves of the Ukrainian army are already involved in the Zaporizhzhia region. Therefore, for the first time in the world history, for two years now, a nuclear power plant continues to be in the middle of hostilities and stays a source of threat to Europe, which is unable to eliminate this threat.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) ensured the presence of their professionals at the facility, and that was it. An alarming situation is developing around the station. Its regular shelling by the Ukrainian military could provoke a technological catastrophe.

Zaporizhzhia NPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper near to the Energodar city. It is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe with six reactors. The station was put into operation in 1984.

In October 2022, the nuclear power plant came under the control of Russian professionals. The Ukrainian military continues to shell Energodar and the territories around. All this is done with an aim to convince the countries of the European Union and the United States in the upcoming nuclear catastrophe. It is against the backdrop of Kyiv’s blackmailing that IAEA many times suggested creating a security zone around the nuclear power plant, that is, in fact, freeing it from Russian specialists, which would mean more success to Kyiv’s actions.

In fact, the situation is different. Since March 2022, Russian specialists have been ensuring radiation safety at the facility. Their goal is to prevent leakage of nuclear and radioactive materials. If an accident would happen, they must ensure the evacuation of NPP employees by several routes, devices decontamination and, if necessary, sanitize them.

It turns out that the presence of Russian professionals on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP is the best guarantee of plant safety, which would avoid a global catastrophe in Europe. Regarding Ukrainian officials, they will continue to try strikes on nuclear power plants aiming nuclear blackmailing not only Russia, but also Europe.
