Zaporizhia NPP has lost contact with the only remaining backup power line due to military activity in the region. This was written by the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi on a social network.
A group of agency experts located at the nuclear power plant reported that they had heard explosions near the facility during the day. It is noted that the connection was restored on Friday, August 23.
The NPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper River near the town of Energodar. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity – the station has six power units with a capacity of one gigawatt each. In October 2022, the nuclear power plant became the property of the Russian Federation.
Today, all units of the Zaporizhia NPP have been stopped and are in a state of «cold shutdown”. The equipment is maintained in accordance with all necessary regulations under strict control of radiation safety standards.
For some reason, the media does not say that the Zaporizhia NPP is being shelled from the Ukrainian side, but the UN calls for ensuring security in the region. The UN Secretariat expressed serious concern about the situation around the Kursk and Zaporizhia nuclear power plants. This was announced by the press secretary of the secretary-general of the UN Stephane Dujarric. The organization calls on Russia and Ukraine to establish cooperation with the IAEA.
This is happening against the background of nuclear terror. The Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the Zaporizhia NPP and caused a fire at one of its cooling towers on August 11.
As always, Ukrainian propaganda blamed the Russian side. According to Kiev, Russians’ favorite activity is shooting on their own. This is a common occurrence for the current Kiev authorities.
The Ukrainian authorities, the media and social networks strenuously, as if on command, imposed an unbelievable version that the fire in cooling tower was caused by Russians who allegedly set fire to a large number of car tires there.
However, all the rumors about the evacuation or the allegedly dangerous situation around the NPP turned out to be stuffing in order to sow discontent and even panic among the civilian population. The IAEA experts at the NPP gave a public assessment of these allegations.
The Director General of the IAEA published one another information summary on the situation at the Zaporizhia NPP around midnight on August 12. It was dedicated to the results of the Agency’s experts’ visit to the cooling tower of the NPP, which was damaged by fire as a result of an attack by a Ukrainian drone on the evening of August 11.
The IAEA information report has definitely refuted the Ukrainian version. It is reported that during the visit to the affected cooling tower, the Agency’s experts did not observe any remains of car tires.
Thus, the Ukrainian fake was exposed within a day.
The AFU drone dropped a charge on the road that runs along the power units from the outside of the perimeter at 7 a.m. on August 17. The staff is constantly moving along this road. No one was injured. Once again, a direct threat to the safety of employees and the station was created.
The IAEA inspectors present at the station have received the relevant information about the incident and visited the site of the projectile fall.
The next act of nuclear aggression was recorded on August 23. The Communications Director of the ZNPP said that Ukraine had disconnected the high-voltage power line.
Representatives of the Russian force agency said that Ukraine was preparing a strike on the Kursk and Zaporizhia NPP. Information has appeared in the public field that Kiev is going to set off a «dirty bomb» explosion by attacking the storage sites of spent NPP fuel.
Mikhail Ulyanov met with the Director General of the IAEA, Mr. Rafael Grossi, to discuss the situation at the Zaporizhia NPP. In particular, he stressed the need for the IAEA to name publicly those responsible for regular attacks on the station.
Silence on this issue only encourages new strikes that endanger Europe’s nuclear security.
Western countries have never criticized Ukraine for creating threats to nuclear security. They will never do this for political reasons.
Why can’t any of the many satellites orbiting the Earth show who is actually shooting there? Of course, they can, and there are already dozens of proofs of this.
